Updated on January 27, 2020

Q: When does school start?

A: School starts on Monday, August 26, 2019 for enrolled students in the Upper School (grades 7-12), and on Wednesday, August 28, 2019 for enrolled students in the Lower School (Preschool - grade 6)

Upper School (grades 7-12) students will start with orientation from 1-3:30 P.M. Upper School students need to wear their GGIS uniform for orientation.

Lower School (Preschool - grade 6) parents and students can come between 9-12 A.M. and visit their classrooms, teachers, meet other students, etc. Lower School students do not need to wear the school uniform for this time.

Q: Where can I see the School Calendar?

You may view or download the 2019-2020 School Calendar on the menu bar.

Q: When does my child need to arrive to school and when does the school-day end?

A: The school-day starts at 8:20 A.M. and ends at 3:15 P.M. School buildings open at 8:00 A.M. for early arrivals. Upper School students have late start on Thursdays at 9:45 A.M.

Lower School students must be picked up by an authorized adult no later than 3:30 P.M. Upper School students are dismissed on their own, unless parents notify the school otherwise.

Q: What school supplies do I need to get for my child?

A: You may find the Supply List for Lower School students (PS-6) on our website. Upper School students will receive a list from their subject teachers at the beginning of school.

Q: How can I try on uniforms and how can I purchase them?

A: GGIS has samples of all uniform items on campus. You can schedule a time to try on the sample uniforms with Mrs. Orsi Bogdanov at obogdanov@ggis.hu (Upper School Receptionist). Uniforms have to be ordered online from our uniform provider in the UK at  www.isus-ltd.co.uk (see further information here).

Q: How can I get a Student ID Card for my child?

A: GGIS students - who have turned 6 years old and started grade 1 - are eligible to get a Hungarian Student ID card. The Student ID Card application must start in your local Public Administration Office (Okmanyiroda). You need to turn in the Form received there (Adatlap) to Ms. Hugi Rimóczi at the Lower School Reception in August.

Q: How can I sign my child up for the school lunch program?

A: The school lunch program will start on the second week of school. The Finance Office will send you the information about the prices, and the sign up information for the school lunch program during the first week of school.

Q: Where can I see my child's grades and assignments?

A: GGIS uses JupiterEd, an online grade-book as a communication tool with parents. You will receive an email containing a link through which you may log in and view your child's grades, assignments, messages, etc., and communicate with your child’s teachers and school administration.

Q: How do I know what GGIS school policies are?

A: The GGIS Parent/Student Manuals (separate for Lower and Upper Schools) will be available to each parent/student online at the beginning of the school year.
